SABA CON YELO (ICED BANANA DESSERT)

A cold Filipino dessert featuring caramelised bananas, shaved ice, and milk.

Frozen Saba Banana

Sweet Saba bananas, frozen and ready to be cooked into Filipino favourite snacks.    Made from 100% real saba banana — Grown in the tropical regions of the Philippines, Saba bananas are a versatile fruit loved for their sweet, creamy flavor and firm texture.

You’ll need:

  • 1/2 packet Frozen Saba Banana Masarap, sliced 
  • 1/2 cup muscovado sugar
    (or brown sugar) 
  • 1/2 cup water 2 cups shaved
    ice or crushed ice 
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk or
    condensed milk

How to make it:

  1. Caramelise the Bananas: 
    • In a small saucepan, cook the water and muscovado sugar until the sugar dissolves. 
    • Add the banana slices and simmer gently for 5-7 minutes until the bananas are soft and coated in caramel. 
    • Remove and set aside.
  2. Assemble: 
    • In a serving bowl, place the caramelised bananas at the bottom. 
    • Top with shaved ice.
  3. Drizzle: 
    • Drizzle with evaporated milk or condensed milk.

Masarap Tip:  Use condensed milk for a richer, sweeter taste.
