Halo-halo (which means “mix-mix” in Tagalog) is a colourful, bright, and refreshing Filipino dessert that brings together shaved ice, sweetened fruits, and decadent toppings — perfect for warm days and sweet cravings!   Chewy, bouncy cubes of pure coconut gel with a refreshing, mildly sweet taste – Masarap’s Nata De Coco adds a fun, colorful twist to halo-halo, desserts, and fruity drinks. Low in calories and high in fiber, it’s a guilt-free treat for all ages!

You’ll need:

  • 2 cups shaved ice
  • ¼ cup Masarap Sugar Palm Fruit (Kaong)
  •  ¼ cup Masarap Coconut Gel Cubes (Nata de Coco)
  • ¼ cup Masarap Macapuno Balls
  • ¼ cup Masarap Macapuno Strings
  • 2 tbsp sweetened jackfruit or banana saba slices (optional)
  • 2 tbsp sweetened red beans or white beans (optional)
  • 2 tbsp ube halaya
  • 1 scoop ube or vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tbsp leche flan or custard (optional)
  • ¼ cup cold milk (evaporated milk or dairy-free alternative)

How to make it:

  1. Prepare the base:
    • Place shaved ice into a tall glass or bowl, packing it lightly.

  2. Add the mix-ins:
    • Layer the Masarap Sugar Palm Fruit (Kaong), Coconut Gel Cubes (Nata de Coco), Macapuno Balls, Macapuno Strings, jackfruit ot banana saba, and beans (if using) over the ice.
    • Add a generous spoonful of ube halaya on top.

  3. Add milk & toppings:
    • Pour cold milk evenly over the ice.
    • Top with a scoop of ice cream and leche flan if desired.

  4. Mix & enjoy:
    • Stir everything together just before eating to combine flavours, textures, and colours.
