Pichi-Pichi (Steamed Cassava Balls)

Whole Cassava

You’ll need:

  • 1 packet Masarap Frozen Whole Cassava, thawed and grated/blended
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp pandan extract or vanilla extract
  • 1/2 packet Masarap Frozen Shredded Young
    Coconut (for coating)

How to make it:

  1. Mix the Batter: 
    • In a bowl, combine the grated cassava, sugar, water, and flavouring.
    • Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Steam: 
    • Oil small moulds or a baking pan.
    • Pour the batter into the mold.
    • Steam for 30-45 minutes until cooked through and springy.
  3. Cool and Serve: 
    • Let it cool, then remove from the moulds.
    • Roll the Pichi-Pichi in the Masarap Frozen Shredded Young Coconut.

 

Masarap Tip: For a savoury topping, replace the grated coconut with grated cheese!
